Carbon footprint

Convert between CO₂e mass, fuel volume and driving distance using a vehicle's consumption rate (L/100 km).

How to use

  1. Choose what you want to convert from — kilometres driven, litres of fuel, kgCO₂e or tonnes CO₂e.
  2. Type in your value.
  3. Pick the fuel type your vehicle uses (petrol, diesel, etc.).
  4. Enter your car's fuel consumption in litres per 100 km.
  5. Select your country and year for the most accurate emission factor.
  6. Read the converted results instantly across all units.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find my car's fuel consumption rate?
Check your vehicle's official specs (WLTP or NEDC rating), your owner's manual, or your dashboard trip computer. Real-world driving is usually 10–20% higher than lab tests — use your actual average for the most honest footprint.
Why do country and year change the emission factor?
Fuel blends, refinery methods and electricity grids differ by region, so the same litre of petrol emits a different amount of CO₂e depending on where (and when) it was produced. National greenhouse accounts are updated yearly to reflect cleaner blends and tighter regulations.
My country isn't listed — what should I do?
Select "Global default" and then edit the factor to your country's official value. Click save as default and it will persist for that country-year-fuel combination every time you return.
What do "projected" years mean?
Years beyond the current calendar year are placeholder projections. As soon as your government publishes updated factors, overwrite the value, save it, and the calculator will use your new figure across every conversion.
Can I use this for business or fleet reporting?
Yes — the maths is the same. Just make sure the emission factor matches the reporting standard your organisation follows (e.g., GHG Protocol, NGA Factors, DEFRA). You can override and save any factor to align with your compliance framework.
